Feb 7, 2008:  We will show you how to encourage Homer City Council Members to support a resolution asking the US House to conduct an inquiry into impeachable offenses.  The charges are too serious to ignore.  Elected officials have an oath-of-office obligation to support and defend the US Constitution.  We look to our elected officials to be informed, and support Congressional inquiry into impeachable abuses of power.

 

"President Bush and V.P. Cheney have taken powers given to Congress and the Judiciary by the U.S. Constitution.  They have sought to cripple checks and balances.

"It is fundamental to liberty and constitutional democracy that our elected leaders follow the laws of the land and that citizens stand for the rule of law.

"Therefore, we urgently request a formal inquiry by the U.S. House of Representatives into the Impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney."

Feb 17, 2008:  Dozens of people around the country are now fasting for impeachment. New Hampshire State Representative Betty Hall, who will lead a public hearing this week on a resolution to urge Congress to impeach, is 87 and fasting, and has said she would consider dying in this fast a good way to end a full life. Here is a report from the woman who began the fast. She met with House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers on Friday [Feb 15] to encourage him to open impeachment hearings on Dick Cheney.

March 13-16, 2008:  Iraq Veterans Against the War - Winter Soldier.  Four-day event brought together veterans from across the country to testify about their experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan - and present video and photographic evidence. In addition, there were panels of scholars, veterans, journalists, and other specialists to give context to the testimony. These panels covered everything from the history of the GI resistance movement to the fight for veterans' health benefits and support.
